ABOUT

Arcade Projects is a public art initiative developed as an expanded platform of Five Walls Gallery. The project began as a window-based exhibition space at the Trocadero Arcade Building, on level 1 at 119 Hopkins Street, Footscray, presenting a discursive program that supported artists at all stages of their careers, both local and international, across a wide range of media.

In 2019, the window space was retired and Arcade Projects evolved into a dedicated public art program operating in and around the Trocadero Arcade building.

The first Arcade Projects public artwork was a series of light boxes by First Nations artist Steven Rhall.

In 2023, Arcade Projects launched its second major public art initiative, Night Arcade, presented on the ground level of the Leeds/Hopkins Street Arcade.

In 2026, Arcade Projects and Five Walls Gallery will present CineRedux: Footscray Reimagined, a public art project exploring Footscray’s cinematic past and creative present. Centred around the historic Trocadero Arcade, the project brings together archival material, local histories, film, and contemporary artistic responses.

Held across two evenings in June and July 2026, CineRedux will activate the arcade, Five Walls Gallery, and the building’s exterior through projections, lightboxes, and live performances, including new works by local and international artists and musicians.
